What We Do
Helping to make medicine a career for everyone
Opening Medicine was founded in 2021, aiming to tackle disparities in social capital among potential medical students and future doctors. We provide free, fun and insightful careers talks and workshops to secondary, sixth form and college students across the UK. Our medical student and doctor volunteers are all passionate about ensuring that students of all backgrounds feel capable of applying to medicine, and supported when they do so. Our upcoming companion YouTube channel will bring fun and useful information directly to prospective medical school applicants.

We have a particular focus on schools with high percentages of Pupil Premium students, or those graded 3 or 4 by Ofsted. However, we offer our free workshops to any non-fee-paying, non-selective school.
